I thought it would be good to share this painting my Mum has just finished of Ernie, my Nan's partner....

Sadly since adding my Mum's portrait of Ernie, he has passed away.  I saw him a week before he died and he told me how he loved his portrait and said my Mum had captured him perfectly in every way.  He was such a wonderful man and so full of happiness and always laughing, he will be truly missed.  R.I.P Ernie...

Jean Penna:
'Dear Ernie died shortly after seeing my portrait of him - no, it wasn't through seeing my portrait, he loved it, said it spoke to him. R.I.P. Ernie - February 7th 1924 - November 13th 2011.'

Lovely image. Nothing can replace the unique charms of a painted portrait, especially under these circumstances. You must feel very fortunate to have this piece. One lesson learned is "don't put off painting loved ones"...do it now. I just finished painting my 84-y-o mother. She loves the portrait, and it will always be special to me and mine. Best, Candace.
